Well lookie here then! An original Hardrock/Metal song on the album I promote as only including non-metal originals. Well there is always an exception to the rule! "The Scorpions" is not necessarily one of my favourite bands but I was surprised over the heavy riffing of such an act (especially as the album the song hails from was released in th mid-nineties when the band mostly made a name out of themselves playing cheezy ballads). But since the very first time I heard it I knew some other band would be able to do it better. The vocals was so completely misplaced upon such a solid excellent guitardriven track and as soon as this album got into production I threw myself upon this track knowing I could do it the way felt it should have sounded in its' original form. Sorry Scorpions, You have done an enormously heavy track but the vocals messed it up, so Elvira Madigan does it heavier and with a more fitting vocal soundscape. Well, that is my humble oppinion anyway. For practically the entire recordingsession for "Angelis..." I felt that "Alien Nation" would be a good opening track after the introducing intrumental track but eventually I pushed it back one notch since the all too heavy approach at such an early stage on the album didn't feel quite right. But anyway, some songs on the album tend to be quite heavily interpreted while this song got a rather mild treatment. Cowbells and such things will of course never make it onto an Elvira Madigan album so some parts were made more gloomy and as far as I can see - they turned out better than they sound on the original.
