First Edition Details:

The first edition of the "BlackArts" album that was released in 2000 through "Northlore Records" is quite different than the current (more easily available) version selling in stores under the "Black Lodge" label. This was the first ever manufactured CD of Elvira Madigan and came in a beautiful digipack version. It had the last track "Venus" cut a little short (a hidden track was removed) to give way to five bonustracks which really make up the main songs of the "Elvira Madigan" album (which was the first effort in the studio - "Blackarts" being the second - yet the first to be made into a CD).

So basically, one gets more than 75 minutes of Elvira Madigan art. The rereleased version (of which one can read more about at the Album Details section), has a richer and more well balanced production and mix due to the remix and remaster the release was subjected to in 2003/2004. This first edition has to carry the weight of a slightly poorer soundscape which actuarly hailed from a rather failed masteringsession including the use of a DAT-tape recorder I no longer use. This DAT is solely responsible for the somewhat underfunded-sounding mix but on the other hand shows a raw and hungry "underground" act at it's best. So I suppose it is up to ones taste whether one likes this version or the rereleased one. This one defenitly has more historical as well as sentimental value and it is also the only way to get a hold of the songs from the unreleased debut to date.

This version is still available upon request from this site. Details on how to invest in it can be found at the Shop. Signed versions come upon request and it will not be re-pressed once sold out.
