Site no 1: The Horrid Green Face![]() Click image for close-up The first versions of the site was not built up on frames. The image above shows the "mainpage" where You were directed via a click on a button of Your choice. The abscense of frames obviously meant that once You went to a certain section You always had to go back to this main-page in order to go somewhere else. The lack of frames and the way it was structured also meant that it only looked this way with a 800x600 pixel screenresolution. With larger resolutions the face would quadrouple and it looked even more silly. But what could one expect really, at this time I didn't even plan on funding or releasing my stuff in a near future. I was mainly having fun presenting myself and my "band" through a website. A funny thing to notice is that I labeled Elvira Madigan solely as "Black Metal Project" in these very early days. The main sections of the site were: Introduction, History, News, Tracklist and Lyrics, Releases and Recordings, Mp3 Samples, Links, Contact Me. The fact that I split up sections even though they obviously could be presented on the very same page; such as "History" and "Intruction" as well as "Tracklist and Lyrics" and "Releases and Recordings" proves that I really didn't really have that much to feature or write about. There was no "history" to speak of yet and even though I had recorded quite a few tracks by then, I really didn't know if there was going to be something released in a near future. ![]() Click image for close-up Lets say You clicked on the "Introduction" on the "Main-page". What You would see is something like the image above. Quite basic really. One rather funny detail is that the background wasn't fixed so as soon as You scrolled down You would also see that silly face disappearing and reappearing constantly... (sigh, I just can't grasp I actuarly used that facial image! Using basic Photshop filters while making the graphics made it truly look funny. It kind of looks like I've been sleeping face down on the pavement somewhere in the streets judging from the tiles in the face!)

(...Continuing from left column:) Lets say You clicked on the "Releases and Recordings" from the "Main-page". Now something like the image below would appear. ![]() Click image for close-up This was a rather necessary section even though I didn't have anything released. I figured that if I presented all my songs in one section I would at least need a section like this providing news on if anything happened regarding releases. I also refered to my set of songs like albums, I mean I had recorded "Blackarts" by this time and I considered that an album even though it wasn't "buyable". So this section was only included to avoid misunderstandings. Since I had no coverimage or anything like that I filled this page with a rather lengthy text explaining what my intentions were with my music and my view upon my own "albums". It all looks rather serious with the section "News on when a release will be available" which was added shortly after this first site was replaced by the second version. It was added due to the fact that people from a very early stage inquired about if they could buy something. So I added the page in order to make Elvira Madigan look a little but more active in trying to get a deal whil I in fact - in all honesty - was not. But all those inquiries made me realize after a while that I would have to do something eventually. And close to a year after I formed "Northlore Records". ![]() Click image for close-up One of the few (well, the ONLY) section on this 1:1 site that actually looked really good was the lyrics pages for each track. So included above is an example to prove that the graphics weren't all that bad during this first period. Well, that's it for the very first version of the site... But do read more about the longer lasting 1:2 Version. ![]() |
