February 22 Time to share some thoughts: I have now spent about two months in the studio trying to mix this album called "Regent Sie". Many have asked how it progresses and many really want me to get it finished so that the album can be released after so many years in the recording. However, things doesn't always go as expected and at this point I am forced to take a break to find alternative solutions for getting the album finished. Elvira Madigan music is an artform for me and what is important is that things always come out in the manner I intend it to. The past two months have not provided any results that feels right and I will not settle for less. I hope You can understand my point of view, which is; I don't want a halfassed mix if I somehow can get a perfect one. In mid january I invested in additional studio gear (which I really can't afford, by the way) and that helped in bringing me slightly closer to what I want. This time everything became "clear and audiable" so I thought my problems were solved, but I came to the conclusion that it unfortuanly lacked in heart. It didn't feel right. So there is not much else for me to do right now that take a break, reload my batteries and find another solution. Fact is that 5 minutes worth of music took me about two weeks to mix and that is far too long and is proof that I am not on the right track. Just imagine how long eighty minutes worth of music will take and then not even feel 100% perfect. Not an option. So that is the case. Cruel facts of life. But as I mentioned, I will look for other possibilities and let you know once things have been sorted. The album will be awesome! January 05 As promised I intend to kick some life into this site again, so here is an update on what's happening. I finished basically all tracks in december last year and thought I'd kick into mixing-gear right away. However, things didn't go so well as I seemed to be travelling rather steep uphill. As many of You may know, "Regent Sie" will be the first album released recorded in a completely new studio, which includes the use of twice as many channels (thrice during mixing!), new microphones althrough, new preamps/compressors for vocals etc. Well you get the idea, everything is new. This has resulted in far improved sound quality and I am hellbent on making this show in the end result. But when I did some initial mixes thing just didn't come out good enough. Apart from minor issues the hardest part has been the general soundscape which really didn't cut it for me. Now after some grueling weeks I have solved the problem with yet another piece of studio equipment so mixing starts seriosly right now. And yes, happy new year! December 14 - 2006!! Hello everybody!! Well what do you know! I've completely ignored this site for over a year. Usually I apologize for lengthy interuptions - like those for a month or two - but this one lasted well over a year. Kinda funny really. Basically, I didn't find the need to tell You every now and then that I am still recording so I thought I'd wait until I really have something vital to tell of. And now I believe I do. First off, the album is finished recorded and I am just about to start mixing it. It have been a grueling five years to make this album (heck... Half a decade!!) but I am overwhelmed and it resembles nothing else and exceeds all of my wildest dreams. My intention was to make a conceptual album in the manner those albums are intended and not like the vast majority of so-called concept albums that basically pour out into the stores today. I believe I have succeeded. The album is a mammoth!! I can reveal the full title now which will be "Regent Sie - Shedevils of Demonlore (of blood, crosses and biblewars)" and a few titles that are definite: "Lot", "Harkencraft", "Lhiannan Sidhe" and "Demonaria". The year has been eventful in many ways and those who have read my newsposts previously know that not everything I mention become reality. Some ideas and intentions are discarded by my own will and some by others, and some just seem to get postponed indefinitly. I mentioned earlier a certain collaboriation with a manga artist in Stockholm for the booklet of "Regent Sie" but that has ended due to many reasons I don't wish to go into further. My own pencil drawings will not likely make it to the booklet either. Instead I am looking into making photographic imagery. All these issues always depend on how the finished result of the music grow into. And along the journey one makes plans that suddenly don't fit in order to progress the right image and message. That is one major reason I haven't dared mention my plans during the past year because suddenly everything might be turned upside down. More about the album as it progresses, but now I can start updating the site again. Vital decisions are made every day and those I am sure of will be made official. October 26 The Elvira Madigan site has been temporarily shut down for two weeks due to some unfortunate events regarding domains and such. It is obviously running again but I do want You to know that it was all out of my hands. As far as I understood there was some sloppyness on other peoples behalf regarding renewing certan things... hrmph... Recording is as intense as ever. I have put some awesome vocals to a few tracks that are finshed. The thing is that I am actually moving and the studio will have to move with me, so I need to get as much vocals down on tape as possible within a short time limit. The thing is that I have never spent so much time doing the vocals as I do now and it will all be ridiculously obvious when the album comes out, whenever that might be. According to my previous time schedule I should have been finished by now. But... haw haw!! That is all I can say. Not much else to say really... except that it is time for me to head into the studio once again. Cheers! September 06 Every now and then I surf around the web to see if any new reviews or artictles have popped up about Elvira Madigan. I don't send out promos myself anymore so it's my only way of trying to keep an eye on things. The coversalbum has been a hard nut to crack for many people. It was quite expected and as many people there are who hates it, it seems there are just as many who adores it. So when I come across reviews giving it 99/100 and 10/13 I get quite excited - becuase I have NO way of expecting anything what so ever. There is NO coversalbum like this one anywhere. I am of the opinion that the metal world is now so completely overfed with power-metal that says absolutely nothing but serves well for the mindless many contept with a crystalclear production and with music that says absolutely nothing at all. I write and express myself through my soul and every now and then someone gets this and it is the most flattering thing in the world for me. I am honoured to present more top reviews of the "Angelis Deamonae" album from the reviews section. As always nowadays, I can only say that I am still recording the new album. The wonderful thing is that songs are getting finished though! And those few who have heard what little I feel ready to show at this stage say that without a doubt; "the best of Elvira Madigan is to be released soon". I am starting to see that maybe this album will be finished after all! haha! I've also been drawing some, but nothing is finished at such extent that I feel brave enough to post previews in the site. We'll have to be patient! On a completely different note. I'd like to say thanks and RIP to the Tombstone.gr webzine that has treated me more than nicely but have also served as the main site where I personally read objective reviews of albums of which I probably went and bought many. It will be missed. July 05 Newspostings have been of less quantity lately... yes I know... But the studiosessions keep me rather busy now and the vocal lines are progressing nicely. It does take an enormous amount of time and effort due to the drama (as reported earlier) but also because my studio is completely new to me, so I have to learn stuff from the beginning and that is time spent I haven't taken into account really. But the result will defenetly be worth it!! In other news regarding the new album, I have now just payed for and recieved the cover image which once again will be a Luis Royo masterpiece. I had considered other options but once again his work felt most apropriet. I am also talking to a very talented manga artist here in Stockholm to see if we can come up with something extra for the booklet. Needless to say, together with my own drawings and Mr Royos work, the graphics of this CD will truly be AWESOME!! Unfortuanly I don't have much else to share right now. That is why not much has happened here lately. But I hope I will have soon... March 06 I've been doing tons of interviews lately, but many are for printed Magazines or Radiostations so they can unfortuanly not be posted on the site. Two new have been added though, and I hope to be able to provide many more. I also would like to take the oportunity to mention the new image added to the Exclusive Preview section available to the right on this site. I know these two issues are both actually going under "updates" but what the heck... The fact that I am doing some of the graphics for the new album myself feels monumental!! PS. This section is now also available from "The Vaults". And now I'd like to share some thoughts regarding my studiosessions. I have been recording vocals for some time now and it is ridiculously difficult. I have to provide so much drama and the vocals in general has really taken a step forward due to the story of the album. So I find myself rerecording things that sound really good just to provide the right atmosphere for what is happening in the story at that particular time and that's a first for Elvira Madigan. Due to the fact that many are extremely positive to the clean vocals I use on "Angelis..." I am trying to fit more of that stuff wherever I can, but generally the material itself guides what vocals I need to use so I can't promise anything. There is defenetly an enormous share of Black Metal spitting vocals to be included. Cheers for now! February 21 An entirely new feature has been added to this site and due to the nature of it - it deserves a newsposting. You see, for the upcoming album "Regent Sie" which is currently being recorded, there have been plans regarding custom made graphics for the interior of the booklet, to feature certain events/characters in the story. Initially I had some artists in mind to create these images and during the autumn of 2004 several of them were contacted. Only two replied (out of approx seven). Anyway - to make a long story short, I have now ended up with no other alternative than to do these images myself with pencil. So now Elvira Madigan has expanded into featuring my own hand-drawn art as well, and due to that I have added a special section of exclusive preview images for the upcoming album. This section shows today only one scan of an image but will be featuring many more as images are finished. You can reach this section from this first main/news section and the column to the right. I will also make it available from "the Vaults" within short. So there You are! I hope You'll enjoy this new section and the fact that I now also "share" this kind of art apart from the music. It was never really intended but it seems to be the right thing to do to make "Regent Sie" as close to my intentions as possible. November 23 First, the "Angelis Deamonae..." album will be released in Sweden - not as previously issued (in late December) - but rather at the same time as in the rest of Europe. This is mainly because Elvira Madigan may get more space in the press during that time (Christmas is booked solid!). But wait! There is more to share regarding the "Angelis..." Regarding the recordingsessions I am heavily involved in and the upcoming conceptual release "Regent Sie", I have gotten so much done lately regarding the lyrics and the story it is almost frightening! I seem to have all the plots figured out and the storytelling is awesome (if I may say so myself...). You will not need additional liner-notes to understand what's going on and the story itself is quite involving! I do still have alot of polishing to do but I will begin putting some vocals shortly and then decide whether there is any need for guest appearences. I am also looking to the graphical issues and have contacted several artists. A few have already answered. Should we (me and Blacklodge) decide where to go with the art I will let You know. November 7 Yes! Finally!! I've been pulling my hair for months on this new site and as I promised last monday that it would be uploaded I did in fact not realize just how much there was left to do. Sigh... But I made it! So welcome to the long awaited new official website of Elvira Madigan. It will hopefully be much better than the previous site in many ways. First - of course - I have to mention that this site is launched in conjunction with the release of the somewhat delayed new CD "Angelis Deamonae - Wiccan Aftermath" (do check it out in the Discography for details on the release!). The date for release in Sweden is currently set at December 27 (2004) and in Europe at January 24 (2005). Well, this new design will most likely last quite some time since I can't see myself spending any more time making new websites. It has alot of new features from "the Vaults" such as an elviramadigan.com website memorobilia and there is also a huge new profile of Yours Truly from the biography. So now that this site is finally running I can continue with the recordings of the "Regent Sie" album. I am sure updates will increase drastically just around the time the "Angelis..." CD will be released. That is much the case, as soon as an album hits the stores there is an obvious increase in reviews and interviews. But thanks for now, I will brew myself a nice cup of jawa and contemplate on the future... Ha! Yeah right!
